Surrounding Salem Christian Union Church to the north and east is the Salem Cemetery.  The Salem cemetery dates as far back as 1830 and includes graves of the Flack family; the founding family of Excelsior Springs.   The cemetery is the final resting place of pioneers, ministers and families, 77 military veterans with dates of service as far back as 1812, and many others through the years.  There are approximately 200 unmarked graves throughout the cemetery.   All identified headstones have been photographed and entered into Findagrave.com.
